Unit 3 - How we express ourselves
Dear parents,
For our next unit of inquiry, the children will be required to complete a research project at home. As you know our new unit is all about Celebrations. For this project, the children will need to choose one celebration and create a ‘Celebration box’ all about their chosen celebration. The children will need to research to find out facts about their celebration and then using this information create their box. We suggest that they use a shoe box and include in it any things that they think tell us about their celebration. They can draw pictures, print pictures, make objects, write labels and include written facts all about their celebration.
The children will need to bring their ‘Celebration box’ into school on Monday the 8th of December. During that week of school, they will share their box with the class.
Important facts you could find out are:
- Who celebrates the celebration?
- When is it celebrated?
- What do people eat during this celebration?
- Do they wear any special clothing?
- How do people celebrate this celebration?
- What are they celebrating?
- Why is this celebration important?
- Do other cultures celebrate the celebration differently?
