Today your child will have all brought home a letter regarding Parents' Meetings on Wednesday the 8th of October. We have allocated you a 10 minute time slot, so please return the bottom slip as soon as possible and inform us if this time suits you or provide us with 2 alternate time slots.

Thank you and we look forward to hopefully seeing all of you on Friday at 12:30pm to celebrate our International Day.

International Day in Grade 1

On Friday the 26th of September we will be hosting our first International Day and we would like to invite all the parents to take part in celebrating the cultural diversity in our school. You are all welcome to join us in our classes at 12.30pm. You will then have the opportunity to enjoy our International Food Feast and have a look at what the children have created to try and capture how many countries and cultures we are all a part of. This day is also about acknowledging and being proud of our unity despite all our differences and we really hope that you can be involved in this important day.

Once the celebrations have finished we then would greatly appreciate it if all involved help us with tidying up and preparing for the autumn holidays. When the classrooms and cloakrooms are looking ready for the new term, the children will be able to go home at the usual finishing time.

Please note that we have added page links to the Grade 1 Performing Arts blog, the PE blog and the Grade 1 Norwegian blog. Please explore these blogs to learn more about your child's learning at school. For your convenience, we have also added a page link to the school's Parent Guide and Calendar Overview.

On Thursday the 25th of September we will be taking all the Grade 1 students to the local forest behind the school for a ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic’. The picnic acts as a celebration to our unit on learning about friendship. Make sure that you pack your child’s lunch in an easy to carry backpack. Can you also remind your child to bring a teddy bear to join us at the picnic.

Please note that this trip is dependent on weather and so if it is pouring with rain an alternate program will be provided at school.

Firstly, apologies for the mistake in this weeks home learning - we accidentally created two labels that say 'Step 3' for the unit task. Please just cross one out and change the 3 to a 2.

We hope that all of you by now have had an opportunity to help your child log in and play both
Reading Eggs and Mathletics. You can find their username and password for both these programs on the inside of their blue home learning folder.

In addition, you can also download a variety of reading egg apps for free on your smart phone and/or tablet. The two apps that we currently use at school are 'Reading Eggs Sight Words' and 'Eggy Alphabet'.

Another great website to visit with free phonics games is http://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/freeIndex.htm
The children are currently on Phase 2.
